The Garden Atrium

Conceived in the rubber plantations of Sri Lanka, the Garden Atrium is based on a floor plan where the guests retreat from their lodgings into an open-air interior courtyard. The Garden Atrium, modified to enclose the courtyard walkway, is a three bedroom, two and half bath home with exterior dimensions of 82 ft. long x 52 ft. wide. The interior garden area is 32 ft. long x 22 ft. wide. A 22 ft. long by 20 ft. wide grand room and walkway with fireplace, located near the rear of the residence, features a 16 ft.-10 in. tall vaulted ceiling. Timber framing is optional. A formal dining room and an office space are located adjacent to this grand room. Entering the residence, one happens upon a vast interior garden courtyard and open veranda. Two seating areas, framed with natural woods and featuring stone floors flank the entrance. The exterior surface of stained wood trim and stucco highlights the home’s natural building material theme.
